"Empowering the voiceless with a voice."
My name is Tyrell Rogers. For years, I’ve devoted my time and resources to helping those that have no voice in this world.
Children are, to an extent, voiceless. Their very nature creates the need for adults to try to protect them. That's why I'm a child psychologist. I spend my days evaluating children for a variety of disorders to help them overcome abuse and trauma. It's also why I became a child advocate.
Advocacy is about the empowerment of the child, to support and represent their views. It's not about pressuring, persuading or taking a course of action without their mandated. So when Detective Wash asked for my help to persuade Sara Doe to cooperate with his investigation, I had to put forth a rights-based perspective – which may or may not be in the best interest of Sara.
I hope, by opening myself up to her, Sara will feel at ease enough to tell me the whole truth about what happened to her foster parents. Perhaps then I'll be able to tell her the truth about me.
